The Disney Music Block Party Tour is coming to a city near you this summer! Produced by Buena Vista Concerts and AEG Live, the 23-date, nine-city tour offers a complete concert festival experience for the whole family, featuring favorite musical guests performing live as well as multiple interactive activity areas focused on engaging the imagination through music, arts and play.

The Dawn Farm Jamboree is an annual family event with free admission and free activities for all ages, including live music, hayrides, animals to pet, pony rides, a popular midway and other activities for children, and tours of the 74 acre farm. There will be live and silent auctions with a variety of donated goods and services, including trips, art, electronics, and hundreds more items. Our Founder’s Day award will be presented to a local supporter in recognition of his/her support of Dawn Farm and the recovering community. This event is a combination fundraiser and “friend-raiser;” our Jamboree provides an opportunity for Dawn Farm to give back to the community that for 35 years has supported us in our mission; to raise awareness of the tremendous power of recovery in the lives of individuals, families, and our entire community; and to raise funds that enable Dawn Farm to continue our mission to provide services for those who have no other resources.Dawn Farm welcomes the community to join us and share in celebrating our successes in helping addicts and alcoholics become part of the recovering community. Admission and activities are FREE. Food and beverages will be available at a nominal cost. Dawn Farm is the only residential treatment program in the area, and funds raised from this event will help defray treatment costs for individuals who have no other resources.

When Simon McBurney and the theater company Complicite brought their production The Elephant Vanishes to Ann Arbor in October, 2004, the production captured the imagination of audience members like no other theater production presented by UMS before and is still raved about four years later. Now McBurney brings Complicite’s latest work, A Disappearing Number, which takes as its starting point the story of the most mysterious and romantic mathematical collaboration of all time.

Considered one of the most important ensemble collaborators of the new millennium, Shorter continues his deep musical exploration with his virtuosic working quartet. The concert features new Shorter arrangements for the Imani Winds, an all-African American, unabashedly adventurous woodwind quintet that has regularly collaborated with jazz artists. 734-764-2538

Munir Bashir was one of the most famous musicians in the Middle East during the 20th century and a considered the supreme master of the Arab musical system. One of the first Arab instrumentalists known to Europe and America, his music was distinguished by a novel style of improvisation that reflected his study of Indian and European music.

"Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" is a free, ongoing, two-part workshop series designed to help participants learn to understand, identify and address adolescent alcohol/other drug problems.

The series is presented on the first (part 1) and second (part 2) Tuesday evenings of each month from October - June, from 7:30 to 9 PM, at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Education Center, 5305 Elliott Drive, Ypsilanti, Michigan. Part 1 provides information on how to understand and recognize the signs of a teen substance abuse problem. Part 2 provides information on what should and should not be done when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized. Part 2 includes a recovering teen speaker.

The workshops are presented by Ronald E. Harrison, SW. Ron is a social worker with over 30 years of experience working in diverse settings with substance-involved teens and their families, and in presenting education and training programs on teen substance use, addiction and family issues.

The program is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, the Livingston and Washtenaw Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Consortium, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Mission Services.

All presentations are free and open to the public. Parents, teens, family members, people who work with teens, and anyone interested in attending is welcome. Registration is not required. A certificate of attendance can be provided. Free literature will be available.
